British Home Children Descendants -   a site dedicated to the Descendants of British Home Children (BHC); Families of British Child Migrants (BCM); and all home children and child migrants still living, no matter where in the world. They are an extension of the British Home Children Mailing List, hosted by Rootsweb. Includes a growing data base of children.

Library and Archives Canada Home Child Database - a data base of shipping records of the children sent to Canada. This contains the shipping records for almost every Home Child brought to Canada between 1869 and 1930

Roots Mailing List - the British Home Children

Bristol Home Children -  The Bristol, children were only a small percentage of the 100,000 who were taken out by many different agencies including Barnardo's, Quarriers, both Church of England and Roman Catholic societies.  From the city of  Bristol, children went with Maria Rye, Annie Macpherson and the Bristol Emigration Society. This web site includes a data base of children from Bristol sent to Canada

Ontario (Upper Canada) Genealogy Database Index
This site represents an ongoing effort to collect information related to the genealogy and history of Ontario County, Ontario.  

The Ontario Vital Statistics Project -  If you cannot find a registration on this site, then it is because it has not been transcribed. All the transcriptions are done by volunteers, out of their own pocket, on their own time. Also, even though as of July 1, 1869, all births, marriages and deaths were required to be registered, compliance was nowhere near 100%.

While the separation from home and family was hard, many children left behind a life of hardship and neglect. Watch two short dramatisations following the voyages of child migrants from different eras.
 
Fields of Memories - The Scheyville Training Farm and Migrant Accomodation Centre
From 1911 Scheyville farm trained British boys for work on Australian farms. Between 1911 and 1939, 5,595 'Dreadnought Boys' arrived in NSW. Most were trained for two or three months at Scheyville before assignment to a farm. 

Fairbridge Kids
