Havelock was closely affiliated with the Church of England, and the boys consistently attended the Sunday evening service at Old St. Paul's Church in Woodstock en masse. Demonstrating a strong inclination towards sports, they established an impressive soccer team. Throughout the late 1920s, this team engaged in matches with local teams and consistently emerged victorious, securing the Woodstock City League title.
A considerable number of boys who underwent training at Kington Hill School were subsequently sent to the Canadian farm.Younger boys were to receive further training and then placed with farmers. Older boys were often placed directly with an area farmer.
